She's Apples

After Barbara took an early morning stroll along the Tumut River we headed to the Tumut Visitors Centre. What can we say - friendly staff and great advice. Don't miss the rare Corroboree frog in the aquarium at the centre.

Our next stop was Adelong for a walk through the remains of the Adelong Falls Gold Mill ruins. We expected to view the ruins from a lookout but were pleasantly surprised that we could walk amongst them. We also photographed our first high country stream - we expect the first of many.

Batlow is famous for apples. Pity we were a week to early for the cider feast when 10,000 visitors are expected. Weemala Lookout at the end of Cherry Lane has great views over Batlow which were particularly nice this time of year due to the autumn foliage. There were farmgate apple stalls open and we bought some Galaxy Gala - yum. The apples came with free advice not to swim in the cold and fast flowing Tumut River. As if - we are Queenslanders and it is way to cold here to swim.

Whilst driving to Tumbarumba we detoured to the Sugar Pine Walk in the Baga State Forest. The highlight of the day - the pictures below do not do it justice.
